How Oman visas work
UAE residence visas come in several flavours. Most expats start with an employment visa, sponsored and paid for by the employer (medical, Oman ID, stamping, insurance, entry permit). Family members come on dependent visas, sponsored by the resident, with a similar fee structure per person.
The Investor Residency offers a 10-year Golden tier from OMR 500,000 and a 5-year Silver tier from OMR 200,000 (or an OMR 250,000 bank deposit). Self-employment. Self-employment requires a company or investor route; Oman has no UAE-style free-zone freelance permit.
An expat employee plus spouse and one child cost roughly: employment visa OMR 2,970 (employer pays) + 2 dependent visas at OMR 2,150 each = a household visa bill of OMR 7,270, plus property and tenancy fees on top.
